OUR BLOG

May the truest gifts of this beautiful season fill your heart and home with an abundance of blessings and joy. Happy Thanksgiving!

Greetings-

On behalf of Kathy Davis Studios and the Scatter Joy Center for the Arts, we would like to cordially invite you to this year’s Joy Market, a holiday craft bazaar that features the beautifully handcrafted work of Kathy Davis designers as well as select craftspeople from our area.

This year’s Joy Market will be particularly special because it will be the very first event in the new art center facility.

The Scatter Joy Center for the Arts is located at 305 Horsham Road, in the original farmhouse on the property that is currently the Elements. To learn more about our new non-profit art center, please click here.

Since the Scatter Joy Center for the Arts is located right next to Kathy Davis Studios and the Kathy Davis Gallery, joining us on December 5 will be a joyful way to do holiday shopping. Great presents will be available at both the Joy Market and in Kathy’s retail store.

Find unique, hand-made gifts and beautifully designed products that will make anyone on your shopping list feel special.

We are looking forward to celebrating the season with you!

As the holiday season approaches and weather turns cooler, our homes increasingly become our place of sanctuary. It’s the warm haven where we gather with family and friends, where we celebrate special moments both big and small. Home is that special place where your heart feels safe to live, love, grow and just be.

This month I’ve gathered some of my favorite ways to bring warmth into your abode and celebrate the fall season.

Wishing you a happy home and an abundance of blessings this Thanksgiving.

All my best,

Artist’s Statement: The world is a very interesting place. Architectural lines, patterns in shadows, beauty in nature, color or lack of it, odd elements and geometric relationships all create visual texture and compelling compositions that catch my eye at every turn. Recording these images with a camera offers endless possibilities, and I’m often looking overhead or below my feet for inspiration. As a painter, I’m drawn to color and movement and am intrigued by what happens when these elements guide my creative process. I find that if I paint without a plan, allowing each brush stroke to inform the next, bold things happen. This collection of work combines images from the world around me as well as my inner world, images that remind me…everything is interesting.

The month of October seems like the perfect time to tickle your fancy with some fun feather inspired ideas! Sharing this sneak peek of some new Kathy Davis feather art fresh from the drawing board! seven:Charity: Sunshine FoundationAs we have shared in past blogs, Kathy Davis Studios enjoys an important relationship with the Sunshine Foundation.

The Sunshine Foundation is a tremendous organization that works diligently to answer the dreams of chronically ill, seriously ill, and physically challenged children between the ages of three and eighteen.

Each year, KDS is proud to be a continuing supporter of the Sunshine Foundation. Through our participation in their events, donations of KDS products, and financial contributions, the Kathy Davis Studios family welcomes the opportunity to support our Sunshine Foundation friends.

This year’s involvement was especially meaningful in light of the sad passing of the Sunshine Foundation’s founding father, Bill Sample.

Bill, a then Philadelphia police officer, first started the Sunshine Foundation in 1976. Over the past 38 years, Bill, his wife Kate, and a team of dedicated co-workers, have answered the dreams of over 36,000 children.

Bill, who passed away this past spring, spent a lifetime making our world a better place for everyone he met. His big heart, his joyful nature, and his relentless commitment to helping children made Bill a very special person. While the world was simply a better place with him in it, his spirit and legacy will live on in the extraordinary deeds done by the Sunshine Foundation.

Kathy Davis Studios is proud to have been a friend of Bill’s….and is equally as proud to continue its contributions to his foundation.

It is with great pride that Kathy Davis Studios has joined the ranks of sponsors for the Edward Taylor Coombs Foundation.

In lasting memory of Edward Coombs, a highly respected graduate of Hatboro-Horsham High School, a foundation has been developed. The ETC Foundation was established with the intent of providing outstanding scholar/athletes financial assistance to pursue their higher education goals, so that they can reach their full potential.

The scholarships support visionary leaders of tomorrow who display exceptional promise today. An additional important goal of the Foundation is to work with high school students around the issues of “responsible decision making” through seminars, forums, videos and other education programs.

The ETC Foundation strives to spread this mission in the legacy of Edward Taylor Coombs, an academically gifted and athletically talented young man with an easy smile and huge heart.
