“I must have flowers, always… always.” ~Claude Monet
Don’t let beauty pass you by.
I may not be headed back to school this September, but if I were, there’s a good chance I’d show up with this adorable floral backpack. The mini rose print is so sweet and totally timeless; I really do think this look would work for women of almost any age.
I would so love to see one of these in Kathy’s own rose prints – it certainly puts me in the mood for a little “back-to-school” shopping!
Every new day is a canvas. Make life a work of art.
On the evening of August 23, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, we will be hosting an artist’s reception for a new exhibit that will run from August 23 through September 26. The exhibiting artist is Anna Lo Piccolo. Anna is an artist and a member of the KDS family. The name of her show is “Deconstructed”, which includes a variety of screenprinted original works of art.
While the reception is occurring in our Scatter Joy Gallery, a “friends and family” sale will be running in our retail store, adjacent to our art gallery. A 25% discount will be extended to all guests on any purchases made in the store during the hours of 5:00 and 7:00pm.

A note from the artist:
Deconstructed is a collection of one-of-a-kind screenprinted and sewn items. In this collection I utilized both fiber reactive dye and acrylic ink to hand screenprint original patterns and motifs. I approach screenprinting as a semi mono-print, hand-done process —hand cutting stencils or painting directly on the screen and mixing my inks/ dyes from primary base colors. I love the potential for experimentation while printing and the possibilities after printing to transform unique fabric into fun, simple and functional items. I hope you enjoy my most recent experiments!
Screenprinting is a fun, creative outlet for me and I am happy to answer any questions you may have about my process or screenprinting as an artistic pursuit in general. For more about me and my work please vist my Etsy shop.
Thank you for your interest!
“Live like the butterfly… Scattering joy and beauty along the way.”
I’m feeling super inspired by this Lanvin flower necklace today. You’ve got to be pretty confident to pull this off, but it certainly would be a fun way to accessorize a summer party dress. I could really see Kathy’s own bold florals translating into jewelry like this –except without the high-end price tag!
During an interview I was once asked, “What’s the secret to your success in such a competitive field?” The answer I gave is that there really is no secret at all.
But, I would like to share with you 7 principles that I know have helped guide my journey…and that I believe can help anyone — whether you are a stay-at home mom, a nuclear physicist…or a designer and writer like me.

July 7 – ’nuff said! Have a spectacular Sunday!
July 10 – Do you like this charming idea for wallpaper using pages from old books?…
July 19 – A shower of flowers for your Friday!
July 21 – Sharing one of my own this Sunday…from my Awakenings collection. Listen to your heart and honor it today. It will not lead you astray.
July 28 – I’m heading to Cleveland today, but think I’d rather be doing some of THIS. Enjoy your Sunday!
Aren’t these little lettered trays the cutest? I know I’m often sharing watercolor florals and other painterly trends here, but I just couldn’t resist posting these. It probably has something to do with my years spent learning about typography in design school, but I think lettering can be just as beautiful as any other art form. I could picture a whole alphabet of these in Kathy’s own striking lettering. Wouldn’t they make such a great gift?
