Had a great time seeing all of the beautiful crafts this past weekend at the
Philadelphia Museum of Art's Juried Craft Show.
Here I am with our friend Thomas Mann who was celebrating 40 years in
business! I've been a longtime fan of his Techno-Romantic jewelry designs.
So, when I saw his Facebook post that read " Thomas Mann has 2 FREE TICKETS
for Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show waiting at the info booth for the
person that gets there first!" I made a mental note, sure that someone would
beat us to the booty...but to my surprise, we won the tickets! Tom got such
a huge kick out of the fact that we claimed his prize!
Who says Facebook is a waste of time...?!

Fall Quilt Market 2010 – Kathy and I were in Houston at the end of last month to help promote Kathy's newest fabric collection called Blossoming.

Melissa Schulz., Kathy Davis and fellow artist, Marisa Haedike of Creative Thursday
We packed a lot into a couple of days! First we participated in our 2nd Schoolhouse presentation on Friday, a little creative improvising was needed as my bag (with the presentation materials) was lost in a direct flight from Philadelphia!! But Kathy and I rallied – we were able to borrow a quilt from Westminster, in addition, Kathy and I had carried on a couple of items, one being Kathy's tunic that you will see her modeling.
That evening, we went to a Fabric 2.0 event – this was a fun meet and greet event sponsored by J Caroline Creative, Stash Books and Interweave Press. We met other designers, store owners and a lot of magazine peeps. It was held in a cool venue called The Grove, located right across the street from the Convention Center. Bya the way, late that evening, my bag finally arrived – yippee! This was a very good thing too – I had a Kathy Davis original dress made from the Blossoming fabric to wear to the show the next day.

Free Spirit Designers at Ty Pennington's breakfast event
On Saturday morning it was our privilege to be a part of a breakfast session with Ty Pennington! What a way to start your day – "if you know what I mean?!"

After Kathy had her photo taken with a number of Free Spirit designers (including Ty!), we rushed over to the Quilt Market show for a book signing. Kathy was giving away signed copies of her book, Scatter Joy. We both got to meet quite a few interesting store owners and other individuals as they waited in line and got their books signed. Kathy flew through over a hundred books!

After a whirlwind couple of days, we had a couple tall drinks awaiting us at the airport! Can't wait to do it all again in the Spring! Cheers!
