Sunshine Foundation Walk of Dreams!
The
entire company at Kathy Davis Studios is thrilled to sponsor and support
Sunshine Foundation. The Sunshine Foundation is the first organization
founded to fulfill the dreams of chronically ill, seriously ill, physically
challenged and abused children. Founded in Philadelphia in 1976 by former
police officer Bill Sample, Bill’s vision to help these children
began while on protective duty at an area children’s hospital,
where he saw firsthand the frustration that families with an ill child
felt at not being able to accommodate their child’s dream. Since
that date in 1976, Sunshine Foundation has made over 32,000 dreams become
reality, and continues to fulfill dreams in so may ways, including:
- Progeria
Reunions – bringing together children from around the world
who suffer from Hutchinson Guilford Syndrome, and providing airfare,
lodging, entertainment, meals and expense money for a child and one
parent.
- Dreamlifts
– Twice a year, Sunshine charter aircraft travel around the
country to fly over 100 special needs children to a Central Florida
attraction for a magical one in a lifetime trip.
- Dream
Village – Sunshine’s Dream Village in Central Florida
offers 9 fairytale themed cottages to children whose dream it is to
visit the local attractions. The Village is complete with a miniature
golf course, wheelchair accessible swimming pool and a handicapped
equipped playground.
Kathy had created a “Thank You” greeting card for sale to
the public, and has donated the entire profits from the sale of that
card to the Sunshine Foundation. Look for this signature card at Target,
Wegmans, FedEx Kinko’s, Walgreens, Cost Plus and various grocery
and gift stores selling greeting cards. Give thanks to family, friends
and colleagues and help make dreams come true!
On Saturday, June 14th, Sunshine Foundation had its 6trh Annual Walk
Of Dreams, held at Tyler State Park in Newtown, PA. In attendance, and
in force, were the crew from Kathy Davis Studios, led by Kathy and her
entire family. The day was beautiful, the walk was invigorating, and
everyone was honored to be supporting Sunshine Foundation through this
effort. As you can tell from the photos, a GREAT time was had by all,
and a significant amount of money was raised for Sunshine!
